about
The Lost Ark Studio presents "Tah's Theme" by The In Motion Collective - and when they say it's a collective, they mean it... What a group of talented players, a great day in the studio, even it if did get a little bit crowded in the tracking room by the end! We're sure you will enjoy this killer instrumental as much as we did as we saw it come together...
In Motion Collective’s sound reflects a myriad of influence, drawing inspiration from West African Arobeat pioneers Fela Kuti and Tony Allen, to Ethiojazz legends Mulatu Astatke and Mahmoud Ahmed, as well as U.S. funk icons such as the JBs and The Meters.
Formed in 2009 by San Diego music veterans Jeff Wilson, Dillon Casey and Tim McNalley (as an improvisational outlet, the trio has since evolved into a collective of young, talented musicians. The group now includes Joe Harrison, Jesse Audelo, Louis Valenzuela, Julien Cantelm & David Castañeda.
In Motion Collective has supported acclaimed national and international acts such as the Budos Band, Sierra Leone's Refugee Allstars, and the Mattson 2. In 2011 the band won 'Best Jazz Artist' at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards and completed a West Coast tour with dates supporting Brooklyn Afrobeat heavyweights, Zongo Junction.
