about

The Lost Ark Studio presents "O! Grace" a tribute cover of a Jason Molina song by The Donkeys, one of the more special songs we've recorded at the studio. Originally recorded for "Weary Engine Blues", a tribute compilation for Jason Molina, the guys at Graceface Records have given us permission to release the song here as well - we're so glad to be able to share this track with you, and to share Jason's songs and story, enjoy this beautiful track.

Jason Andrew Molina (December 16, 1973 – March 16, 2013) was an American musician and singer-songwriter, originally from Lorain, Ohio. He came to prominence performing and recording as Songs: Ohia, both in solo projects and with a rotating cast of musicians. Since 2003, he had recorded either under his own name or with a stable line-up of band members as the Magnolia Electric Co.

"Very rarely do you run into a star that burns as brightly as Jason. When he is also your brother you are truly blessed. To fans of Jason’s music we want you to know you were the center of Jason’s universe, you meant everything to him. As much as his music inspired others, he was constantly and honestly inspired by you. From the Molina family, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for the outpouring of support and send our condolences to his fans and friends." Aaron Molina, Jason's brother

lyrics

O! Grace - Jason Molina

She said "I've been the stockyard's pony"
She said "I've been the mountain engine's roll
From Chicago to West Virginia,
I've been as lonesome as the world's first ghost
As lonesome as the world's first ghost

But out here even the prairie doubts the horizon
All I have to do is prove that I'm not pure
Oh, the right words come,
But I ain't talking
The devil's mean but he's honest just as sure
Oh, he is honest just as sure"

Oh Grace, if you stop believing
That don't mean that it just goes away
It's a long way between horizons
And it gets farther every day
Ohhhhh, Grace
Woooooah, Grace

Oh Grace, if you stop believing
That don't mean it just goes away
It's a long way between horizons
And it gets farther every day
Ohhhhh, Grace
Woooooah, Grace

She says "But I know a man whose heart is restless
He's never home, and he's never gone
And he had some good things
But he lost them
Like everything he ever set his heart on
Oh, that he set that heart upon

Oh boy, if you stop believing
That don't mean that I just walked away
It's a long way between horizons
And it gets farther everyday"
Oh, Grace
Oooooh, Grace
